It uses open-source neural translation models (OPUS-MT, University of Helsinki, CC BY 4.0 license) that run inside your browser.
Privacy
Your text never leaves your device. The first time for each direction it downloads the model (a few tens of MB).
Limits
It is useful for short and medium texts. Double-check the translation if it matters.
