Legal limits

Overtime cannot exceed 3 hours a day or 3 times a week. Beyond that it is not mandatory.

Shift lengths

  • Day shift: 8 hours.

  • Night shift: 7 hours.

Example

MXN 15,000 per month gives a daily salary of 500 and an hourly rate of 62.50 on an 8-hour shift. With 12 overtime hours in a week: 9 x 2 x 62.50 = 1,125 plus 3 x 3 x 62.50 = 562.50, for a total of MXN 1,687.50.
