What is the aguinaldo?

The aguinaldo is a mandatory year-end bonus for employees in Mexico. The law sets a minimum of 15 days of salary per year. Employers can give more.

Deadline

It must be paid before December 20.

How it is calculated

Daily salary x aguinaldo days x (days worked in the year / 365). With MXN 15,000 per month the daily salary is 500, so a full year gives MXN 7,500.

Proportional aguinaldo

If you did not work the full year, you receive a proportional amount, even if you resign.

Taxes

30 UMA are exempt from income tax. With the 2026 UMA of MXN 117.31, that is MXN 3,519.30. The rest is taxable.
